Glass Mirror

Interactive Mirror technologies pave way for future Human Computer Interaction in real world scenario by Layton Judd
Interactivity is the name of the game these days and it is pretty much becoming a part of modern human life. Taking this theme a step further LitStudios has announced the niche concept of an Interactive Mirror which is both a plain mirror and digital display. In essence you can call it a touch-sensitive mirror-like surface where you can unleash your creativity while standing in front of the mirror and gotten bored of grooming your hair locks for the night party. One can call it a huge iPhone or iPod touch screen sans any other capabilities than the interactive transitions, drawings and shooting those darn flying objects with your finger. Designed primarily to dig deeper into the realms of Human Computer Interaction (HCI) by creator Alpay Kasal, Interactive Mirror is totally non-computer makes it usable by everyone, even the most technology illiterate blokes.
The unique thing about this kind of interactivity is the fact that as you see the reflection of yours and the world behind you in the mirror you can literally build a layer of you own imagination onto that reflection which is very interesting. The inspiration for building it came from the dielectric glass mirrors with LCD panels installed inside them. Kasal’s main aim for such kind of designs is to bring an element of human touch to all the gadgets of the future. As one can see in the video, all that you need to do is to weave the magic with just one finger and make your reflected world come alive in an instant. According to the creator it will have much more useful applications in the future and for now the design is patent pending and the price is still a mystery.
Next product in the same lines we have is the interactive dressing-room mirrors that were put on display at the Interpublic Group of Cos., which is a retail center at the advertising company’s Media Lab in Los Angeles. This is an initiative to connect with the customers and understand their buying patterns in the retail stores. With online shopping having the advantage of interactivity people are now shifting towards it probably that is the reason why retailers are now pushed into bringing high grade technologies into their stores in order to enhance the shopping experience. Couples of technologies being shown are going to be the pioneering elements of the retail shopping experience of the future. One of them is the device that transforms front window of store into a giant touch screen with which the consumer can interact for selecting outfits while chatting with a virtual sales associate for providing advice for the same.
Another technology is a mirror that enables the shopper to scan for a dress and the project onto his/her own body to get an idea how it will look. Apart from that one can tap the mirror for viewing different colors, looking out for matching shoes and even send that image to Facebook profile. Specialty retailer The Limited is planning on installing such interactive mirror in some of its outlets in the coming six months according to Chief Executive Linda Heasley.
